Role learning path
LLM Engineer
An engineer who turns language-model behavior into explicit, measurable, adaptable, and operable systems while preserving evidence and authority boundaries.
Role boundary
InIncludedDefine language-task contracts and engineer prompts, context, retrieval, structured output, evaluation, adaptation, and inference evidence. Diagnose language-model-system behavior across managed and open-weight paths and preserve behavior-facing release and change gates. Prepare technical evidence and limitations while routing product, domain, legal, privacy, security, safety, platform, and formal decisions to named authorities.
OutExcludedSet product priority, domain truth, legal or licensing interpretation, privacy approval, security architecture, or formal safety and risk acceptance. Own shared MLOps and platform infrastructure, frontier model research, customer-embedded delivery, or autonomous-agent orchestration by default. Treat a fluent response, benchmark, model card, schema, or operational metric as sufficient proof of product fitness.
